Found Space Presents “8”

Found Space Productions will present a staged reading of Dustin Lance Black’s new docudrama “8” on Saturday, August 11th at 2:00 pm in the Norton Clapp Theatre (Jones Hall) at the University of Puget Sound. There will be a short discussion after the show. Admission is free.

This landmark marriage equality play is based on the 2010 Federal District Court Case brought against Prop 8, using transcripts, interviews, and observations of that trial. Since September 2011, more than 200 readings have been seen world-wide, with many others already scheduled. Learn more about the big project at 8theplay.com.

Director, Suzy Willhoft is “proud to be directing this important piece in Tacoma for Found Space, produced by Broadway Impact and the American Federation for Equal Rights (AFER) . It’s especially timely with Referendum 74 on the Washington State ballot in November. The company features 23 amazing actors and technicians from the Seattle and Tacoma theatre community, as well as support from the UPS Theatre Department.”  Willhoft has previously used Spaceworks space on MLK, currently home of Live Paint, for rehearsals and performances.  Prior to Live Paint, the space was resided by Toy Boat Theatre whose artistic director, Marilyn Bennett will be appearing in the role of “Kris Perry” (a plaintiff) in “8” on Saturday.
