When it comes to activating space in Tacoma, we have to give it up for the hard working folks at Downtown On the Go! There are many ways to engage with this highly active program, here are just a few highlights of upcoming events:
“Live Downtown” Interest Session

Downtown employers can participate in this remarkable new program at no charge, which in turn provides their employees with financial incentives for living downtown, such as discounts on bank home loans, apartment rentals, transit passes, and benefits from numerous participating businesses. Join this open house event for more information and to hear testimonials about the Live Downtown program. Mayor Strickland is expected to be in attendance, and this is a chance to enjoy the lively atmosphere and delicious food/cocktails of the new Tacoma Cabana. Plus, attendees will be entered to win a $100 Home Depot Gift Certificate or a $50 TWO KOI Gift Certificate!

This Wednesday, take a lunch break and visit the Tacoma City Grocer IGA. Downtown On the Go will be there bagging groceries, offering program information, and handing out reusable grocery bags, along with IGA gift certificates, farmer’s market tokens, and free Zipcar driving credit!

“Visit the Downtown On the Go booth at the Farmer’s Market second Thursdays throughout the summer and “Take the Pledge” to make a healthy change to your commute. By filling out a pledge card with a specific commute change goal (Ex. bike to work 5 days this month, ride the bus 2 times per week, walk to work once a week….), visitors will receive a free umbrella, helmet, bag, or mug of their choice, and get the needed support to achieve their goal from the DOTG team.”
