Spaceworks’ latest participants, the Butler family, are a bundle of talent and entrepreneurship. They are hosting a variety of events and opportunities in their new space located at 717 Tacoma Ave., provided by our partner Seven Seventeen Investors.
Nick Butler (artist/animator/digital media guru) is utilizing the space as a hub for his animation studio Turtledust Media. During the six months of support from Spaceworks, Turtledust media will host a variety of animation related events, and educational opportunities, while continuing to work on the studio’s first fully computer generated animated short titled Peanut Butter Jelly Jam.
Beth Butler (massage therapist/instructor/general health guru) will be hosting a series of classes in the space. Beth graduated from Nevada School of Massage Therapy, and went on to study Eastern Religions and Literature at Pacific Lutheran University. Besides running her business as a practitioner, she has taught classes on Acupressure, Shiatsu, Reflexology, and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Coming from the hara will be covered in the first portion of this workshop, developing habits for correct body mechanics which can be used in massage and throughout daily life. The second half of the workshop will focus on Eastern philosophies of diet, exercise and sleep encouraging longevity. We will conclude with a practical application of Tai Chi Self Healing Meditation, excellent for self treatment of ailments.

Intro to Acupressure 8 hour class

This workshop will cover the 12 main Meridians, including the Governing and Conception Vessels. Each student will take an Acupressure intake evaluation in an effort to learn how to read and interpret the form. The evaluation will help each student identify their individual areas of strength and weakness which can be the underlying cause for ailments in the body. Students will have an opportunity to perform and receive an Acupressure protocol using acupoints.

This course is an overview of Shiatsu, the Meridians, and the relevant Acupoints. We will cover proper Shiatsu body mechanics for sustaining a long healthy career in massage therapy. These shiatsu moves can be added to a personalized message protocol that will have you clients coming back for more. Students will have an opportunity to both give and receive a basic Shiatsu treatment.
