“Drawings” by Michael Kaniecki
Opens Saturday, April 12, 1-5pm at Moss + Mineral
305 South 9th Street in downtown Tacoma
In 2010, Michael Kaniecki put himself on display in a vacant storefront window on Pacific Avenue. Over the course of a three month Spaceworks residency Kiniecki created “Semi-automatic: a drawing project“on a 40 foot long scroll. Pedestrians peered in the windows as this monumental project slowly came to life. Kaniecki would eventually stand the scroll upright in a serpentine form, and bring in other drawings on three dimensional surfaces to create one large installation.
Now, you have a chance to see an exhibition of Kaniecki’s work, including original figurative charcoal drawings, plus a limited-edition print series called “Creation Story” (the original set is in the permanent collection of the Grand County Library in Moab, UT). This exhibition will take place at Moss + Mineral, a design store and gallery residing in a beautiful little storefront directly across 9th street from the Rialto Theater. Moss + Mineral offers thoughtfully designed items including jewelry, furniture, housewares, plants and terrariums.
