Tacoma Handcrafters and Artisans Group

From Spaceworks participant Steve Lawler of rePly Furniture:

Hello Makers,

This is a call to all handcrafters and artisans in the South Sound region to join us for the first ever meeting of Tacoma Handcrafters and Aritsans Group (final name to be decided). This is not to be confused with a Guild or Cooperative, we will merely be a group of like minded makers meeting once a month to share ideas and to help build a stronger, more creative, supportive, and better community of makers.

If you are a maker of things with your hands using wood, fiber, ceramic, glass, metal, concrete, anything recycled or upcycled, or anything else made by hand, please join us for our inaugural meeting in May.

Wednesday, May 13 at 6pm – 1120 Pacific Ave, 2nd floor.

The purpose of creating this group is manyfold. As a maker myself, I have often relied on the help and encouragement of other makers and understand how beneficial this can be. The cooperative discussion of everything we encounter as small creative businesses, including marketing ideas, work spaces, showroom spaces, funding, collaboration, craft and art shows and business practices will benefit us individually and as a community.

The first meeting will be a meet and greet type scenario. We will get to know each other and discuss the groups goals and how we can make it relevant. If possible, please bring something small (or big) that shows what you create.

So, who’s with me? Let’s make Tacoma a great place to create. Tell your friends and any makers you know who might be interested in this.

Please RSVP to me if you plan on attending. 253-389-3807 or steve@replyfurniture.com

Handcraft:  make skillfully by hand.
Artisan:  a worker in a skilled trade, especially one that involves making things by hand.

Thanks,

Steve Lawler
