Spaceworks is excited to announce the grand opening of Tacoma’s newest gift store, Stocklist, opening on July 30th. Located on the University of Washington’s campus in the heart of Downtown Tacoma, Stocklist promises to delight Tacoma residents and visitors alike with a unique mix of stationery, jewelry, accessories, home décor, & souvenirs.
Stocklist will specialize in selling fabulous gifts for everyone, souvenirs for folks near and far, beautiful jewelry and providing fantastic customer service. They will carry a mix of local artists- such as Anagram Press, Stickers Northwest and Bicycle Soap Company – regional artists like C Rose Jewelry, Seattle Chocolates and Veronica and Harold – as well as national gift lines. The price range will be wide, with goods ranging from .95 cents to $300, and a median price point of $20 or so. The idea is, you can walk into Stocklist, find something really fresh and cool for that person on your list, maybe even a little something for yourself… have a fun experience in the well curated store and leave feeling like you have a not only found a great gift, but made a new friend. According to owner Liz Van Dyke, “Through Stocklist I am hoping to find a way to empower artists and makers, providing a creative outlet for them to showcase their work by entering into the wholesale market. Over the course of the next five years, my goal is to actively seek out local artists, and work with them to grow their reach by selling their goods to other stores. I’m excited to share the creative heart of Tacoma with visitors to our area, be they from near or far.”
Come celebrate this fantastic new addition to the Tacoma community and see the beautiful remodel of their location, at 1936 Pacific Avenue, during their Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, July 30th from 11am-5pm. Join them in toasting to their excitement with refreshing Italian sodas, summertime snacks, raffles and giveaways.
Stocklist will quickly prove to be an important addition to the retail mix of Tacoma. Liz Van Dyke brings over a decade of retail experience, purchasing, merchandising and event planning with an established local retail chain to this new endeavor. With the opening of Stocklist she is honored to follow in the steps of family and loved ones that showed her that the feelings of accomplishment, and the challenges that follow the decision to become an entrepreneur, are worthwhile. Liz states “Growing up working in a family business ran by my mother, and my grandfather before her, taught me a great deal about following your heart and finding happiness in your profession. I’m proud to be following in my family footsteps by opening Stocklist and I’m honored that Stocklist has found its home in this great city of Tacoma.”
Liz Van Dyke recently graduated from Spaceworks’ Creative Enterprise Tier I training program and gives credit to the program for providing her with the knowledge and confidence to open up a store of her own. Over the course of the program she focused on the idea that a gift store can be an asset to community building, and her goal with Stocklist is to do just that.
