Celebrate National Thrift Shop Day with the launch of a new artistically-inclined and money-saving business. Tacoma Thrift & Consignment opens their doors Wednesday, August 17th, 11am-7pm. A unique second hand store, they will feature a curated selection of thrift and vintage items alongside goods made by local artisans.
In their organized, inviting and budget-friendly store you will discover housewares & decor, books & furniture, clothing, shoes & accessories, toys & games, crafts, electronics, and even sporting goods. With selection varying by season, you will find eclectic items presented in themed displays. Another unique aspect is their consignment of locally made craft and artisan products. They want to create a fun shopping atmosphere with something for everyone.
The owner, Jessica Prindel, is a graduate of the Tacoma School of the Arts and has recently completed Spaceworks’ Creative Enterprise Tier I training program which covered a broad range of small business topics from inventory management to public relations. “They taught me in 6 months what many people learn, often the hard way, in their first year of business,” says Prindel. “It is single-handedly the most beneficial thing I could have possibly done for my store.” Before Spaceworks could match this business with a suitable location, she found retail space and signed the lease independently.
Prindel has been a member of the 6th Ave business community for the last four years while she worked at Hi-Voltage Records. “I grew up on 6th Avenue and it has been amazing to see it evolve. I truly feel it is the most exciting and unique neighborhood in Tacoma. There is such an eclectic blend of businesses and more are opening every day.” Combining passion for community with an eye for design, Tacoma Thrift & Consignment will offer shoppers an economically friendly selection of lovingly made or gently used items for your home.
