A little background:
C.L.A.W. started up this curated, traveling Thrift Art Show two years ago using forlorn vintage paintings purchased at Salvation Army or Goodwill. The absurdist artists then add monsters or sci-fi characters to change the context and offer a cheeky conversation between old and new ideas. Breathing with new life, the paintings are offered for sale to support art supplies for the cartoonists as well as fund their scholarship offered to students pursuing careers in illustration or cartooning. Since their first show at the Old Post Office (now called Courthouse Square) this show has morphed & traveled across many interesting venues in Tacoma including galleries and dive bars. Interested parties have the option to support the artists and scholarship fund by purchasing the paintings. The league also welcomes partnership opportunities with people who want to put up this eclectic exhibit into their spaces.
