Spaceworks is pleased to announce the arrival of Kiara Daniels as Spaceworks’ new community relations specialist. She will help Spaceworks live up to its motto, “Cultivating Creative Communities” by supporting alumni, volunteers, donors, and coworking tenants. Since 2008, Spaceworks has engaged with more than 140 businesses and 200 artists, making Tacoma a great place to launch a business or creative career.
“We are thrilled to have Kiara join the Spaceworks team,” said Michael Liang, program director, “She is already well-connected throughout Tacoma and brings a depth of professional nonprofit experience. Moreover, her commitment to bridging and strengthening communities makes her the perfect ambassador to those we serve and those we’ve yet to reach.”
Daniels’ roots run deep in Tacoma. Growing up on Hilltop, she is a graduate of Tacoma’s School of the Arts, Evergreen State College in Tacoma, and Evergreen State College in Olympia where she received her Masters in Public Administration. Upon graduation, she worked for the Northwest Leadership Foundation as an AmeriCorps member, the Peace Community Center, Habitat for Humanity, and as a community organizer. Her community service is exemplified by her recent tenure on the City of Tacoma’s Hilltop Engagement Committee.
She joins Gwen Kohl, Business Incubator Coordinator, and Gabriel Brown, Artscapes Coordinator as team members of Spaceworks, a program of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber. Spaceworks makes Tacoma culturally vibrant and economically strong through training and support for artists and creative entrepreneurs.
