Subverting Perfectionism Using Ugly Art
March 12 @ 06:00 - 07:30
FreeIn this workshop, we’ll get close and personal with the mental barriers our perfectionism has built by making intentionally ugly art. We’ll explore perfectionism’s origins, how this affects our current life goals, and how making intentionally ugly art can help us bridge the gap between the two by practicing joyful imperfection and teaching our bodies that it’s safe to move toward our goals through imperfection.
My goal is for you to leave this workshop with a better understanding of your own creative fear and a new, fun tool to help you bring more joy, play, and freedom into your life.
Some art materials will be provided, but I encourage you to bring along that sketchbook/journal you bought years ago and have been too afraid to use, and something colorful to draw with (markers, crayons, paint, collage materials).
Registration Required as space is limited for this in-person workshop!
Our presenter, Lore Alexander (they/them) is a creativity coach and freelance copyeditor. For the past three years, they have been interviewing creatives on their show, The Ugly Podcast, to demystify the creative process and encourage people to return to their creative nature—even and especially if it’s ugly! You can listen here or wherever you get your podcasts, and you can learn more about their coaching opportunities here.
