Local Color Photography is a mixture of creative art photography as well as local client-driven work such as product and model photography. Abby states “I have been an art lover for as long as i can remember, and enjoy art in all mediums. When I was 15 I took my first Photography class, and have not stopped taking pictures since. I use a variety of mediums including digital, 35mm and instant film. After moving to Tacoma in 2005 from Iowa, I was constantly inspired by this fascinating industrial city and have been photographing the city. I like to notice things that most people walk by every day but never see. I aim to see the simple beauty or oddity in the things around me are share these things with others. Some successful projects I have completed include shooting the cover photo for Seattle Band ‘Santee’ in 2013 and having my photographs featured in The Tacoma Weekly Volcano, The Tacoma News Tribune and the Olympian in 2013. I also have many online publications such as localwiki.net/tacoma, which was a community project i did that highlighted independent Tacoma businesses. In 2011 I was a featured photographer for the 2011 Downtown Block Party, these photos are featured on locallifetacoma.org.” Abby’s residency at The Post Office Building lasted 6 months, and she participated in three Spaceworks Post Office events, and then recently relocated to an awesome live/work space in South Tacoma!
