Since its founding in 2010, Spaceworks has been busy transforming empty storefronts and vacant space in Tacoma—activating 43 underused properties, assisting 73 creative businesses, and exhibiting 106 large-scale art installations.
“The artists and creative businesses that participate in Spaceworks often tell us that what they’ve done wouldn’t be possible without us,” says Heather Joy, Spaceworks Manager. “But we know that without their incredible talent and commitment, plus the support of our community, Spaceworks itself wouldn’t be possible. This party is a chance for us all to celebrate the creativity that makes Tacoma great.”
Here’s how the party will play out:
Spaceworks participants eTc Tacoma presents “In-Depth” with Bruce Leroy. The Tacoma rapper will perform live in-store at the eTc Streetwear Boutique located at 907 Pacific Ave (Tacoma, WA 98402). Space is limited for this event, so attendees are encouraged to RSVP at email@example.com. The first 20 attendees will receive a free giveaway item. This event is sponsored by MSM Deli, The Tshirt Men, and eTc Tacoma.
Bruce Leroy and his latest release 10 Feet (November 4, 2014) have received critical acclaim from the Seattle media. According to Larry Mizell Jr. of the Stranger, “Leroy spits with a well-roundedness that’s damn near vintage—there are moments that evoke Common’s classic Resurrection—but with very West Coast, 2014 street edge.” Mizell Jr. also refers to the EP as “deeply satisfying meat and potatoes hip-hop—cloth-napkin compound-butter steakhouse” music. “Bruce Leroy is a Tacoma emcee with more artistic perspective than that city’s young guns,” and according to Andrew Matson of The Seattle Times, 10 Feet “shows he can stay traditional without being corny.”
10 Feet—and Bruce Leroy’s previous projects LEROY, Black Everyday, and To The Death—can be downloaded for free at bruceleroymusic.com.
